Nero built Rome's second public baths adjacent to the gardens of Agrippa. According to Dio (61.21.1) the baths and gymnasium were dedicated in 60 during the establishment of the Neronia. Oil was supplied to every equestrian and senator in a Greek form of liberality. The baths were rebuilt in 227 by Alexander Severus and became known as the Thermae Alexandrinae.
