Slave's Quarters

This is where the slaves live. There are matresses on the floor for sleeping. Some slaves are using them now so that they can work late during the feast tonight. Claudia whispers that this is where she used to play before she was old enough to go to school. She tells you that one of the slave women watched over her until she was six and could attend school. While she is talking, you notice how plain the room is painted with black and white stripes, a sign of slaves' rooms in Roman times. Claudia leads you out of the room before you disturb the resting slaves.
