Vicus Censorius
Moving from Inter Duos Pontes towards the southern end of the island, you enter a large square, the only one of its kind on Insula Tiberina. Crowds of people mill about the perimenter, while smaller groups of men are engaged in animated conversation. Through the central area of the square a company of men, women, and children are making their way towards the archaic Temple of Aesculapius. You sense that their reason for coming here is not an edifying tourism, as is yours, but to seek the help of the god to cure loved ones.
