The Sacra Via enters the Forum at its eastern end. The stretch of the road that descends from the top of the Velian Hill (Sacra Via summa) down into the Forum was apparently sometimes called the sacer clivus. To the south of the road lies the Forum, the Basilica Julia and the Temple of Castor. To the north are the Basilica Aemilia and the Curia, separated by the Argiletum, which heads north to the imperial fora and toward Subura.
