Area Sacra

Directly before you is the Temple of Victoria. Beyond it looms the grand Temple of Magna Mater, dedicated to the Great Mother Cybele. Between the two temples stands the smaller shrine to the Virgin Victory (Aedicula Victoriae Virginis). The area itself is a broad, open, paved expanse in which various religious celebrations (and sometimes theatrical performances) took place.
