CULINA
Here, situated between the SLAVE QUARTERS and the STABLE, you find the CULINA. The haphazardness of the design makes you think that this wasn't part of the original plan of the house. Your sandals become dusty as you step onto the earthen floor and you are hit with a wave of heat from the OVEN and cooking fires. In this small room only decorated with COOKING UTENSILS, slaves are bustling in preparation for the dinner which is just a few short hours away. All around you see BOWLS, PLATES, URNS, POTS, and UTENSILS being used. Many are made of terracotta, but some are bronze and silver, especially the serving containers. Feeling that you're in the way and of little use, you take one last look and then exit, with the aroma of such delightful food following you out the door.
