compluvium
While standing at the edge of the impluvium, you look up to see the decoration of the COMPLUVIUM. Without columns, a symbol of the TETRASTYLE ATRIUM, the compluvium has been decorated with designs. The protruding figures create a symmetrical and reoccurring pattern that fits into the older styling of the atrium. You can see that repair work has recently been done to replace the figures that broke during the earthquake. You're impressed that Cornelius can find the masons to do such delicate and nonessential repair work. So many buildings have been destroyed and the supply of builders is much less than the demand for repair. However, Cornelius has money, and money would be able to get such repairs.
