You are on a long, straight street that cuts across the northern end of the Campus Martius from the Tiber to the Via Flaminia. The section to the south of this street has many more public buildings than the area to the north, which is subject to periodic flooding from the upper bend of the Tiber River. Among the monuments you see here are the stadium of Domitian, the Baths of Nero, and the Pantheon.
(Note: We know the course of this street because much of the ancient paving has been uncovered, but we are not sure about its ancient name; "Via Recta" is only one of the possibilities that has been suggested.)
