Pompey's Quadriporticus

You enter the large rectangular theater forecourt (measuring 180 x 135 meters) through a monumental gateway in the middle of the east side of the complex. You turn left or right to walk in the cooling shade of the roofed portico that surrounds the open central courtyard. Before you are the ornamental plantings of the Quadriporticus gardens and rectangular roofed structures which contain art and booty from Pompey's military triumphs.
