Cenaculum Ornatum (redecorated room)

After Flaccus and his son Quintus have cleaned and decorated the room, it is much more homelike, though still spare and cramped.

Flaccus manages to cook simple meals in the room, and in the evenings Quintus practices his Greek letters, using a stylus to write on wooden tablets covered with wax, while Flaccus amuses himself with a game of Tabula (a Roman board game similar to backgammon; click here for more information.
