You see two bronze tablets fastened together with leather hinges and recognize it as a soldier's discharge document. This one is dated July 17, 122 CE and grants citizenship after 25 years of military service to an auxiliary named Gemellus who was serving in Britain.
Many of these diplomas were found fastened here, including some that actually refer to Ara Gentis Iuliae.
