Atrium

This is the entrance room to the villa. The actual room is at a slightly lower elevation for decorative purposes, so there are steps on each exit of the room. The center of the room also has a few steps into an even lower elevation, but this is the impluvium, filled with water.
Normally the atrium would extend into the tablinum among other rooms, but the main extension goes directly to the peristylium in this villa.
